New Features for 2025 BC

Financial Reporting Capabilities

Microsoft is spending some much needed time in the financial reporting area of BC. There are some really great new features that will make the standard financials in BC more robust.

There are three roles that have new features. The roles are viewers, authors and administrators.

Financial report viewers can now do the following.

  • Choose to hide empty rows when they view a financial report.

This feature was only available when printing the report which allow you to show only rows that had amounts. Now you will be able to see this on the view which means no more scrolling!

Financial report owners can:

  • Document the use of the report (using an internal description field).
  • Write introduction and closing paragraphs for their reports.
  • Save their Excel templates in Business Central.
  • Run a financial report using a saved Excel template.
  • Schedule when to run a financial report.
  • New Month to Date column type.
  • Find financial reports that use a column or row definition.
  • Use an accounting format where negative numbers are formatted with () instead of a minus sign.
  • Open financial reporting when they create a new G/L account.

To highlight a few of these features the Excel templates and the ability to save them is a much needed feature. Scheduling when to run the financial statements was one of the only reports we were not able to schedule so this is definitely a feature that will be utilized. Along with adding formatting features that customers are absolutely looking for in the product.

Administrators can:

  • Documentation to find out which permissions are needed to run or edit financial reports.
  • Telemetry on the use of financial reports and lifecycle events.

These new features will be a definite reason to upgrade to the latest version.
